[ PROTECTION ]

AstroGuard is a patented hurricane protection shield for windows.

Light. Strong. Easy to deploy. Protect your Investment.

AstroGuard Hurricane window protection fabric is a resin-coated hybrid fabric that has nearly twice the burst strength of our closest competitor, providing unmatched protection from hurricane damage. It delivers “full envelope” protection for your home or commercial property, blocking hurricane force winds and preventing rapid pressurization. Rapid pressurization is what causes roof lift-off and catastrophic damage. This hurricane window protection fabric weighs just ounces per square yard making it one of the easiest systems to manage.

At only 11 ounces per square yard, AstroGuard is lightweight and easy to install. If you or your handyman has ever lifted metal panels or plywood, then you understand the importance of this feature. We have found that when a storm is coming, our AstroGuard customers deploy their hurricane protection while many of their neighbors with traditional shutters do not. The neighbors with old-fashioned hurricane shutters would rather risk damage than deploy their hurricane protection! That says a lot.

[ FAQ`s ]

Common Questions

Though you are welcome to measure and intall (DIY) the panels yourself, we price all orders with install included. Our fabric has a ten year warranty and comes in white or tan, and takes around 2 weeks from order to install. We leave you with a numbered diagram of your windows. The window coverings fold into a convenient duffle bag that can be stored in your garage or attic.

Is it strong?

AstroGuard is high-strength, high-tenacity nylon hybrid fabric coated with a UV resistant resin. The result is a hurricane protection system that resists wind, water, and flying debris in excess of the Category 5 hurricane level. With a burst strength of well over 1,500 lbs., AstroGuard easily outranks metal panels, roll downs, accordions, and any other hurricane fabrics made of a see through material.

Is it safe?

AstroGuard hurricane fabric is a leap forward in hurricane protection because it can stop direct impacts and large missile-projected items. No other manufacturer’s system can say that.

How about install?

Weighing only ounces per square yard, AstroGuard is easy to deploy at storm time. It also folds up neatly into its own storage bags, taking up very little room in an attic, storage unit or garage. You will never have to wrestle with plywood or heavy metal panels again!

What's the cost?

With all of AstroGuard’s advantages, you may think the price would be prohibitive. But, along with our superior technology comes superior manufacturing that makes it affordable. AstroGuard is a more expensive, stronger fabric than what our competitors use, yet we can deliver it to our customers for less.

How long does it take?

It takes approximately 2 weeks from order date to completed install.

What is Full Envelope?

During a hurricane, most catastrophic damage happens when a window or door is blown in, causing pressurization of the home. This pressurization can rip the roof off. Prevention of this is known as “full envelope protection.” AstroGuard provides this by covering all vulnerable openings: windows, doors, and garages. Even if the glass breaks, AstroGuard prevents pressurization by deflecting the wind.

Us -vs- Shutters

Because of its flexible nature, AstroGuard stops flying debris and projectiles more effectively than any other form of hurricane protection. Solid hurricane shutters can fail when impacted, and in many cases they are damaged or misshapen enough that a new shutter must be purchased.

What about Insurance?

These days, many insurance companies are requiring homeowners to install approved hurricane protection. This reduces claims to the insurance carrier and protects homeowners from storm damage. AstroGuard is fully recognized and approved by major insurance companies and TDI / TWI.

Let the light in?

AstroGuard won’t leave you in the dark. Its translucent nature lets light in while it is deployed over your windows and doors. Say goodbye to the “cave” feeling you get from traditional hurricane shutters.

What about Builders?

For builders, we will preorder to be ready when the house has final exterior painting completed.

Happy Clients

I built my home in 2020 and thankfully we have not had to put up our hurricane fabric coverings, but I’ve done a test run to see how long it would take for me to do it on my own. With a total of 10 windows in various sizes on a one story, it took me about 30-45 minutes as it was my first time to do it and I took my time. It was not hard at all for my house.
Mike S
We are in a 2 story house so having the fabric coverings was so much easier to put up than when we had to do plywood like before. It was stressful running around to the hardware stores for parts and finding help to get them up, especially the second story. The light fabrics were well worth the investment.
